Palmer Youth Athletics Association

Attention  Baseball and Softball Team Coaches and Managers

THANK YOU for taking the time to coach/manage a Palmer baseball or softball team! Our youth are lucky to have volunteers that teach leadership, skills and a love for the game.

Below is a brief overview of some of the tasks you are asked to take care of, aside from teaching your players the game of baseball or softball:

  • Lights: If you are the last team to practice/play, please make sure that the lights are turned off when you leave.
  • Before each game you should give a copy of your Lineup to the manager of the opposing team, and the official scorekeeper.
  • Home team is responsible for the “official” score book.
  • The Home team is also responsible for the Scoreboard.
  • Clean-up: Please make sure that your parents and players leave the dugout and stands clean at every game (home or away). The dugout should be completely clear of all debris after your game and the seating areas should be cleaned up by both parents and players.
  • Win, Lose or Forfeit—report scores or schedule changes to your commissioner.
  • We have provided links to the official rule books. Please read them and let your commissioner know if you have any questions!

Thanks for all your help and for all that you do to make this a great League and a great experience for our youth!!

Field Responsibilities

There are many ways that we, as coaches, parents and players can help the City to maintain our Fields.  The items listed below should help us all to keep our fields in top condition and to save unnecessary expense to our league.

Remember, also, to be good Visitors when you are playing away from our Fields.  Pick up, clean up; be a good guest.

Fields:

~ Etiquette - Do Not Practice on a Field that has been prepped fora game.  Normally, pre-game warm ups are done on the outfield.

~ Lights - Turn on the lights as needed and turn them off after your game or practice if no other teams/s is behind you.

~ Scoreboard - The Home team keeps the scoreboard.

~  Weather- Whenever we have a weather event (like rain), we try to work with the City to get our fields prepared.  If the fields have no chance of being prepared for that day’s game/s; we will update the rain out line as early as possible.  Normally, it will be updated by 4:00 p.m.  It will not be updated on a daily basis if we have no weather events.

Facilities:

~  Restrooms -  If the restroom needs supplies or attending, please let a board member or someone in the concession stand know.

~  Trash - It is your responsibility to communicate with your Parents and Players the need to place all trash in the appropriate  containers.  Please help to teach your players and parents pride in our fields, and respect when visiting other fields. We do not pay anyone to clean our fields -- the responsibility of picking up your trash falls on other parents and volunteers!

Other:

~  Website - Bookmark this website on your Browse and check back each week for new announcements or changes.

~ Game Reports – It is your responsibility to either call or email your commissioner with Game Scores so that they can be posted to the website.

~  Questions – Any questions, suggestions or other issues you have with our fields and facilities or PYAA in general should be directed to a PYAA Board Member.

BASEBALL

IS YOUR BAT LEGAL TO PLAY WITH?

It is now mandatory that ALL bats have the USSSA thumbprint stamp on them.  You cannot play with a bat that does not have this.  Below is what the thumbprint stamp looks like for reference.
